25 Nov 98: SidAmp 1.3 released! Yeh, it's late, we know! But here it is.. released now because I don't have time to work on it for a couple of weeks. Here's a list of what's new in 1.3:

- Completely recoded trackbar tune-selector window, added skin to it (yay!)
- Fixed several windowing bugs
- Fixed normal config not changing when Custom frequency selected
- Fixed mixer bug with channels not being updated right
- Fixed playlist window bug - sidamp does not steal focus when minimised and playing playlists
- Added Filter Emulation option in config, eliminates problems reported with reSID playing voices quietly
- Fixed playlist bug causing subtune selector not to work properly
- Upgraded sidplay engine to 1.36.29
- Added support in filenames for "HVSC_BASEDIR": SidAmp will automatically replace this symbol with the current HVSC path as specified in Setup.
  eg you can specify in playlists something like
  "HVSC_BASEDIR/Hubbard_Rob/Commando.sid"
  and have it automatically expand the current HVSC path.  Mainly for use with LaLa's playlists so no need for environment settings :)

Description

WinAmp already supports MPEG, MIDI, and WAVE audio. Now you can play Commodore 64 SID tunes in WinAmp as well!

Features

  • Features both the SidPlay and reSid emulation engines (Note: some configuration options do not work with reSid)
  • WinAmp playlists can be adapted to play SIDs, complete with cut-off times and sub-tunes!
  • No extra commands required, simply drag-and-drop, or select your PSID files from the file selector box
  • Supports STIL and the High Voltage SID Collection
  • Supports sub-tunes, using a convenient slider bar which appears only when you play SID files
  • Easy to configure and use

IMPORTANT: WinAmp 2.0 or later is required to use this plug-in! We strongly recommend you download WinAmp v2.02 or later, there is a marked performance increase from SidAmp with these later versions.

If you have WinAmp 2.0 or later, simply download the plug-in and unzip it into your plug-ins folder inside the main winamp folder.

Obtaining tunes

Where to get SID tunes?
  • Here's a great place to start, the High Voltage SID Collection, which has over 17000 SID tunes!!
  • If you don't want to download so much, feel free to browse our favourites, by song name and artist .
    NOTE: If you use Netscape, these must be downloaded by shift-left clicking on them!
    All these are selected from the High Voltage SID collection . With 17000 SIDs in the archive, we obviously haven't had time to listen to them all - the ones in our favourites list are mostly memories of the c64 days - if you have any suggestions please let us know of the HVSC filename and we'll probably add it to the list!
